Who doesn’t love a good meat and cheese plate!? Whether its a little pre-dinner snack or your in charge to make one for your next girls night, I’ve got all the tips and tricks to make The Perfect Affordable Charcuterie Board! Side note… here’s a meme that is dedicated to all of our parents lol (makes me laugh every time)
Alright so down to business. My favorite places to get cheese and crackers is Trader Joes. I find they have a GREAT selection and the prices are super affordable. A couple of my favorites are creamy toscano (has a hint of wine flavor), blueberry goat cheese, caramelized onion cheddar cheese (suuuuper onion-ey), Camembert Soft ripened cheese (literally tastes like butter), and manchego (can never go wrong with this one)!
My current favorite crackers are Trader Joe’s Roasted Gorgonzola crisps! So weird because I am not really a gorgonzola fan (neither is my BF) BUT we both LOVE it!! The gorgonzola is very subtle so it isn’t overpowering. Another classic is the fig&olive crisps! My other favorite that isn’t pictured is the raisin rosemary crisps!
My other favorite place to get cheeses from is Whole Foods. Now you might think…. “Jasmine, Whole Foods is expensive!” Well I agree that it isn’t completely ideal to get everything you need from there but there are certain things that I will go to WF for! Meat & cheese being a couple of them! WF has a “secret” bin of assorted cheeses in smaller sizes (prices usually range from $1-$5)! It is located in the fridge next to the hummus/cured meats/cheeses! This is the perfect option if you are looking to try a bunch of different cheeses but don’t want to purchase a larger portion.
Another hack for The Perfect Charcuterie Board is to get your “meats” freshly sliced at the charcuterie station at WF instead of buying prepackaged meats! This ends up being way CHEAPER & you get the perfect amount you need to make your board! Not only that there are WAY more choices to choose from! **ADDED HACK…. don’t forget to sample a piece too 😉
I always like to add something sweet/spicy too! Sometimes I put honey down with almonds on top! But today, I used fresh blueberries (for sweetness) and thai chili cashews (for a little spice!)! I hope you use all of these little tricks to make your own perfect charcuterie board!
